Evidence Based Practice Seminar
For Behavioral Health Practitioners Serving Children and Youth In Washington State.

Who should attend?
This seminar is for Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Psychiatric Nurses, Independent Social Workers, Advanced Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Mental Health Counselors.
Designed with you in mind.
University of Washington faculty, DSHS staff, family partners and community providers collaborated to design a one-day seminar titled, “Update on Evidence Based Practice”. The purpose of the seminar is to increase practitioner knowledge and present future opportunities to develop skills as they relate to behavioral health evidence based practices for children and youth. This seminar is free of charge.
Two locations; limited seating.
Two seminars will be held. The first is for practitioners serving children and youth in Western Washington. This conference will be held at the Lacey Community Center in Olympia (Lacey) on March 13, 2009. The second conference for practitioners in Eastern Washington will be held in Spokane. This will be an all day seminar from approximately 9am to 5pm. Participation will be limited to the first 75 providers who enroll.
The Evidence Based Practice Institute
Legislation passed in April 2007 established the Evidence Based Practice Institute (EBPI) at the University of Washington
School of Medicine. The primary goal of the Institute is:
To support the expansion of empirically supported interventions for children, youth
and families in order to improve the likelihood of positive outcomes.
There is very strong scientific evidence that when clinicians systematically utilize specific treatments for a range of childhood disorders in conjunction with family engagement and skill enhancement strategies, child and adolescent behavior improves. During the seminar we will elicit your input on how we can support your continued involvement in the development and implementation of effective services for children and families.
Directions: 6729 Pacific Ave SE; Olympia, WA 98503
From I-5, take exit 109 to Martin Way. Go East on Martin Way one mile to Carpenter Road. Turn right on Carpenter Road and proceed one mile to Pacific Avenue. At Pacific Avenue, turn left and proceed three-tenths of a mile into Woodland Creek Community Park. The Lacey Community Center is located in Woodland Creek Community Park.
