General Practice Area: As a licensed clinical social worker, I provide counseling within a confidential, collaborative and
supportive relationship for problems including depression, anxiety, and negative self-image. I work with clients facing difficult
adjustments to common life events including job changes, moves, mid-life issues, aging, relationship problems, divorce, illness,
and death of loved ones. Counseling can give you the chance to identify and express your feelings and to develop better coping
strategies for stressful situations. Honoring goals that you set, we work together to identify and challenge thoughts and behaviors
that are no longer effective, and to address changes that may result in you feeling better about yourself and your life. I have
a special interest in working with clients who have concerns about weight and eating issues. It's not uncommon for people to cope
with sadness, anxiety or negative feelings by eating for comfort and relief. Others may develop patterns of overeating in response
to strict periods of dieting. Eating may become out of control, mindless, compulsive or "a binge," causing distress. Initially,
weight is often the major focus, although unhappiness and disappointment about the other things in life may surface as bigger concerns.
Counseling can help you to normalize eating, give food less power, become more mindful about eating, understand triggers for emotional
eating and learn to cope with uncomfortable emotions in a healthier way. [
