registered licensed mental health counselor or therapist.
New Service Page
Puget Sound Directory:
Find an Authorized Provider of Mental Health Services under the
Washington State Crime Victims Compensation Program (CVCP) Counselor or
Therapist
Counselors: add your name to the Crime Victims Compensation Program
registered providers list, below.
Licensed
counselors who are available and authorized to do mental health
counseling for victims of crime. ( a CVC registered provider in
your area.)
|
NOTE Crime victims seeking
compensation through the Crime Victims Compensation Program (CVCP) must first use
all other health insurance available to them, including commercial
insurance, Medicaid, or Medicare before accessing CVCP coverage. Victims
with no other coverage rely on CVCP. CVCP is called the “payer of last resort.”
This new page is published to help meet
the unmet needs of crime victims by providing information about
crime victim rights and the
crime victim compensation program and to find the
office for the victims of crime. If you are a victim of crime who is undergoing mental health
therapy and have exhausted all your mental health benefits, your current
mental health provider may be willing to apply to be a CVCP
mental health provider.
If the current mental health provider is not able or willing to work for
CVCP reimbursement rates, you may find an authorized CVCP mental
health provider from the
list below.

Unvarified
feedback from a CVC Program provider:
In the CVC Program the clients are not generally the ones searching
for a therapist. The victim advocates have lists of available
therapists and make the referrals.
A lot of counselors left the Crime Victims Compensation Program in
the last few years because the reimbursement rate was slashed. Last
year (2006), dollars were restored to the program and the Department
of Labor has been trying to get former participants to sign up
again. This has made the life of victim advocates from the
prosecutors' offices, or from organizations like Friends and
Families of Violent Crime Victims really difficult because they
didn't have enough counselors to refer victims to.
With the general purpose counselor locator service,
counselors can be located by name, geographic area, or niche specialty.
The mental health and addictions counselors listed on these pages are:
(1.) Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHC),
(2.) Licensed Independent Clinical Social Workers (LICSW),
(3.) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT), or
(4.) Registered Counselors (RC).
