Unvarified feedback from a CVC Program provider:  In the CVC Program the clients are not generally the ones searching for a therapist.  The victim advocates have lists of available therapists and make the referrals.

A lot of counselors left the Crime Victims Compensation Program in the last few years because the reimbursement rate was slashed. Last year (2006), dollars were restored to the program and the Department of Labor has been trying to get former participants to sign up again. This has made the life of victim advocates from the prosecutors' offices, or from organizations like Friends and Families of Violent Crime Victims really difficult because they didn't have enough counselors to refer victims to.

With the general purpose counselor locator service, counselors can be located by name, geographic area, or niche specialty.
