Eating disorders occur among all age groups, including children, and most commonly develop during adolescents. I provide individual and family counseling, and consultation to parents and/or a spouse. It is normal for family members to feel powerless and frustrated. Many of my clients are referred by Children's Hospital. I team closely with their medical staff, including dietitians. If detected early, an eating disorder is often quickly resolved. Once in the moderate to severe stages, I require that my clients see a physician, and usually, and a dietitian during at various times during treatent. When helping those with anorexia or bulimia, I focus on body image including body dismorphia and emotions related to food and weight, especially anxiety and co-occuring depression. Art is often used during sessions, and I frequently give homework to be completed between sessions. EMDR--Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a specialized treatment technique. What is EMDR and what does it do?

Specializes in assisting a person through life transitions, stress, or disturbances that are not going away or changing on their own. Uses talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) for Adaptive Integration of memories that are not staying in the past but are intruding in one's current state of being.
