Words Under Water, Inc.
Lisa Fann MA, RC (206) 784-5005
Counselor
444 NE Ravenna Boulevard, Suite 309, Seattle, WA 98115-6467
Location: just east of Green Lake Park in Seattle.
General Practice Area: I counsel individuals and groups who want to work on difficult relationships and intimacy problems; isolation; physical, emotional, and sexual abuse; depression and anxiety; theological matters; grief; and life transitions. Because many problems are rooted in relational issues, I look at the nature of the client's current and historical relationships, focusing on how relational style interferes with experiencing a meaningful life. As we work together, we look at integrity (facing denied reality), freedom (shedding the unnecessary constraints we put on ourselves), and responsibility (seeing ourselves as people who can choose and have an impact for good in our world). I also lead groups on recovery from sexual abuse, deepening relationships, and therapeutic writing. [ Email Lisa Fann ]
Alworth Counseling
Pam Alworth MS RC (206) 356-3277
444 NE Ravenna Blvd,, Suite #309, Seattle, WA 98115
Location: Ravenna Office Building near Green Lake
General Practice Area: I believe that life experience and relationships shape how one perceives the world and one's self. Because of this, people become stuck in the same patterns affecting their emotional health and well being. This belief is based on a systemic and experiential theoretical perspective. I believe that through the therapuetic process, people can explore and alter these perceptions, bringing them closer to a more genuine self. I use a variety of client-centered treatment approaches including Internal Family Systems, Experiential, and Cognitive Behavioral therapy. I work with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and poor self esteem. Couples who are engaged for pre-marital counseling, and couples/parents struggling with communication, conflict, and decreased relationship satisfaction. Also families struggling with relationship difficulties, life transitions, and conflict.

Acceptance Therapy
Ben Trelease MA RC (206) 420-5550
Registered Counselor
444 NE Ravenna Blvd, Suite 200-B, Seattle, WA 98105
Location: A block from Green Lake, just before you get to Gregg's Cycle
General Practice Area: I have a great affinity for working with couples, individuals and families who are struggling
to get the most from their lives, their work and their relationships. I offer a gently supportive approach that treats you as
both worthy *and* capable of finding the change you seek. I believe in your unconditional value as a human being, a fellow traveler,
and that you deserve an opportunity to honestly reflect on who and where you are. I work with people across a range of issues from
short-term work on specific goals to longer term deep work often involving self-esteem, relationship repair and entrenched, family of
origin issues (what many call 'baggage'). While I often dive briefly into to past to understand the systems my clients come from, I
believe that healing is something that happens as we learn to experience the present with more mindfulness, deeper acceptance and
greater choice. I am trained as a family systems counselor and, am a continuous learner. I often use a variety of techniques from
the Strategic, Brief and Narrative schools in my work. I also use other modalities such as Voice Dialog, Mindfulness and the Work
of Byron Katie when they seem to best suit the therapeutic needs of my clients. Technique however is only a small part of what I
(or any therapist) uses to facilitate healing. Most of all, I use the honest and caring relationship created between a client and
myself as it emerges in the moment in each counseling session. www.acceptancetherapy.com

Psychotherapy for the Body and Mind
Susan Baum MA LMHC (206) 778-9183
Licensed Mental Health Counselor
402 NE 72nd St, Suite 5, Seattle, WA 98115
Location: Near Greenlake (Gregg's Cycles/Starbucks)
General Practice Area: Psychological patterns that constrict or inhibit us live inside our bodies, in the ways we breathe, hold tension, or respond to stress. Working therapeutically with both the body and mind offers a profound potential for changing deeply held ways of thinking, feeling, and being in the world. I work with individuals, couples and groups using both verbal and body-based techniques to help people find more freedom, authenticity and pleasure in their lives.
My particular way of working integrates Reichian, Gestalt, and psychodynamic approaches. Following what is present and alive for an individual, I invite people to open their awareness to embodied experience, feeling more deeply into physical sensation, breathing, emotion, and impulse. At times this work may evolve into movement or emotional expression. This process brings increased awareness of more deeply held feelings and thoughts, which can then be worked with and explored. This deepening contact with one’s body, with one’s moment-to-moment mind-body experience, expands how you feel, know and express your self in the world.
This work is especially helpful if you are dealing with depression, anxiety, difficulties around intimacy, life changes, trauma recovery, or significant physical symptoms such as chronic pain or illness. Change comes by opening and being present to what is, unraveling what is no longer needed, and allowing your being to more fully come to life.
