Circle Of Healing from Emotional Abuse
Who Should Participate: Circle of Healing is a group in Seattle for Healing from Emotionally Abusive Relationships. Did you grow up in a family where there was chronic Verbal Abuse? Have you been in a partnership with someone who was Psychologically Abusive?
The chronic stress of living with an Emotionally Abusive Parent, Partner, or Boss can lead to mental & physical health problems. It is confusing because the emotionally abusive person is so certain that it is your fault. Like many others, you may be experiencing some of the following symptoms: depression and/or anxiety (maybe mild & recurrent), flashbacks of earlier emotional abuse, marked distress or fear of stimuli related to the abuse, intrusive thoughts of abuse, numbing, isolation, anger management or other behavioral control issues, difficulties concentrating, & sense of diminished future.
In Group, you will learn why the abuse is NOT about you, separate your identity from the mental abuse, and begin reclaiming your identity.

Sucess Stories: Group Therapy and Life Coaching
Who Should Participate: Men and Women--SUCCESS STORIES™ is a supportive,
innovative group process that combines the best of coaching and therapy. All issues and goals are welcome. Research shows that about 80%
of our thoughts are negative. We often don't notice these thoughts until we're in a bad mood. Chronic negative states effect our health,
work and relationships and can make goals feel unobtainable. The static of worry, guilt, doubt, irritation and other negative emotions can
make us miserable. We know that intentional, positive thinking results in desired life changes and a sense of well-being. Yet it can be
hard to find the self discipline required to change our negative set-point. In this group, members will feel inspired and encouraged.
You'll learn processes for clarifying your desires, transforming self-limiting patterns and taking inspired action. You'll get help with
prioritizing and motivation and will benefit from caring accountability. To maximize progress, you'll learn easy, effective techniques
that are practiced between meetings. With surprisingly little effort, you'll see increases in confidence, persistence and emotional
well-being. Greater effort yields greater (and greater) results!
Dates/Times Offered: Groups are on-going, with weekday and weekend times.

Women Over 40 Who Never Had Children
Who Should Participate:
Women--Come join a community of women in a 6 week exploration group. The purpose of this group is to support women to
explore what it means to not follow the path usually chosen by women in this society. While grief can be a part of this
journey, the freedom we have, and what we chose to do with that freedom, is a major characteristic of this group.
The 6 weeks cover:
• Who am I as a woman who never had kids?
• Lost & found: Dreams, roles & relationships
• Body image and menopause
• How do I care for myself when I become an elder?
• Do I need to grieve?
• What will I leave this world?
The group is led by Jane B.G. Tornatore, PhD, (www.doctortornatore.com) who is
committed to helping people shift old patterns so they can lead a freer life.
"Thanks once again for creating a nurturing environment for our support group. I received so much insight and
awareness from the sharing, and I especially enjoyed the exercises and rituals. You are fabulous at creating room for exploration and
possibility within a safe, structured environment."
"I would recommend Jane's group to every woman. She brings up very deep issues that
are worth looking at and sharing in a supportive group. I felt very safe in this group because of the skill Jane brought to it. I
would even take this class again."

Women's Support Group: Looking for Affiliation, Support and Empowerment

Pioneer Square or the Green Lake area of Seattle. Fees are on a sliding scale, or are waved for current clients already in
individual or couples sessions with Janette. There are two types of groups: the Support Group shares personal stories from
our lives with others, to support our personal growth; and the Dream Group shares dreams and dream images with others who
discuss how they personally relate through intuitive wisdom to your dream material.

Women's Self-Acceptance and Self-Empowerment Group
Who Should Participate:Are you constantly self-critical in your own head? Do you hate being alone? Do you feel your life would work if you had the right partner? Have you been on an endless search for identity and meaning? These are some issues that come up for us as we strive for self-acceptance. The need for self-acceptance and self-empowerment can occur at any age. It is often the "last rung" on the ladder of self-development, meaning we may have already done quite a bit of personal work but still need to work on self-empowerment and self-acceptance. The more we are able to love ourselves, the more deeply we are able to experience relationships and the world around us. In spite of this, loving and empowering ourselves remains some of the hardest work we can do as human beings. This is a powerful opportunity to work with a skilled therapist in a safe, supportive environment. Sessions will include lots of opportunities for sharing, education, and some expressive art experiences. We will meet weekly in Shoreline for 8 weeks, beginning in May. Cost is 40.00 per session. An intake will be required before joining the group. Cost for intake is also 40.00. Diversity of age, culture, orientation, experience, etc is encouraged and hoped for. Payment for all sessions is required whether they are attended or not.

Who Should Participate:
Women--In this group, you will find support around changes that come with aging, menopause and managing diabetes.
It is important to get outside of your own world, to connect with others and find support for this daily, sometimes
minute-to-minute challenge.
I have been diabetic for 31 years and have had few symptoms from diabetes until pre-menopause and
menopause came into my life. This group will help you track symptoms and make some sense of them. We will cover stress reduction
and learn techniques to decrease stress. We will also work with improving our approach to life using proven brain
techniques that create new neural pathways, so that we may remove traumas, obstacles and create a healthier body.
Verbal and art expression will also be used. Through this group, you will find a better balance within yourself
with intention, focus, and creating the courage to work with your body. Let's move toward whole health, mind, body
and spirit! Groups will be a 4 week at a time commitment.

Men Adrift to Men of Action
Who Should Participate: Although the song 'This is a Man's World' may have rung true
in decades past, many men are at a loss as to how to truly thrive in the world today. Whereas the women's movement of the 60's and 70's
empowered women to claim their full potential, there was never really an adequate equivalent to equip men for the changing times.
Are you feeling adrift?
• Chewed up & spit out by "the new economy," leaving you pissed off, lost, or reeling in shame?
• Frustrated about your relationship, and your partner is disappointed or fed up with you?
• Has "virtual reality" replaced engaging a real world that seems to have little to offer?
• Anxious, overwhelmed, or resigned because you don't know how to get more out of life?
This men's group can help you gain:
• Clarity & confidence in who you are, where you're going, and how to get there
• A strong connection with a group of men who get you and have your back
• Tools & perspectives to shift you out of the funk you're in
• A healthier relationship with yourself & others
• Feeling better than you have in a long time!
Dates/Times Offered: Tuesdays, 7:30-9PM
October 25th - December 13th
Space limited to 7 men so apply early Fee: $20/week (sliding scale available)
Facilitator qualifications: Facilitator Edan Zebooloon, MA, LMHCA, is a licensed therapist with a Masters in Systems Counseling.
He has participated in and led a variety of men's groups over the last fourteen years. Edan is passionate about supporting other men
in realizing their authentic expression through this good work because of how it has been a source of his own upliftment.

How to deal with Emotional Manipulation
Who Should Participate: If you feel yourself not appreciated in your relationship… If you feel entrapped…. If your Self-Esteem is low… If your partner thinks: "You have to be fixed." You might take the blame and think: "It is all my fault." On the other hand something feels so unfair… Perhaps it's not all your fault! It might be the effect of manipulation. If this is the case, you're not alone!
Come and see what others do in similar circumstances. I offer a therapy group in which we help each other figure out if Emotional Manipulation causes difficulties in the relationship or not. Learn new responses to handle manipulative situations. Learn how to take back the control, how to build confidence and how to recognize and handle manipulative people around you! Come and see how!
Dates/Times Offered: Friday 6:15 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.
Fee: $25.00

Building Better Relationships
Who Should Participate: This is a group for those in less than healthy relationships, as well as those recovering from a break up or those who are single and unable to form significant relationships in their lives. The group will be small (limited to five members--men and women of any sexual orientation) and are made up of those interested in creating better relationships, or all sorts, in their lives. At each session:
* We will have an opening go-around where everyone checks in and lets us know how the week has been--both the ups and downs.
* During that time the group listens, makes comments and selects issues to be more closely examined.
* We will focus on how co-dependency plays a role in our relationships—romantic, work and family.
* We frequently end the session with strategies to help members have a great week until we meet again.
Dates/Times Offered: The first and third Wednesdays of each month Fee: $40 with a generous sliding scale

Counselors--Advertise your therapy group |

Public Notice: Advice on contacting counselors by telephone. |
Groups designated as "ongoing and continuous" groups admit new members periodically and members
leave when they feel they've accomplished their therapy goals. Groups designated as "educational" or "
closed' meet for a indicated time period. This site offers information regarding groups, group therapy, and group therapy professionals
throughout the State of Washington. Nothing here should be construed as a suggestion regarding treatment nor as an endorsement of a professional
or therapeutic method. Contact the provider regarding their professional qualifications, fees, theoretical orientation, and the appropriateness
of the process for the treatment you are seeking.
On Telephone Calls to Therapists
As a webmaster, I frequently call counselors and I am caught off balance when I don't get an
answering machine. I say, "Excuse me, I was expecting to talk to a e and wasn't expecting to talk to a real person!"
Counselors in private practice are small business people--often really small--and usually have no
employees. Counselors usually handle the telephone, counsel individual clients and groups, get the mail, write the letters, do the
bookkeeping, market their practices, do the taxes and everything else that needs to be done to stay in business. Counselors in private
practice often see clients in the evening, so it is usually better to call during the day.
All this to explain that when you finally decide to call a counselor and see about joining a therapy
group, you will probably get an answering machine. It may take a couple of days for the counselor to get back to you. Even if they
call you back immediately, if there is another voice on your answering machine they may be afraid that they will be violating your
confidentiality if they leave a message for you where someone else may hear them. So they may have to hang up without leaving a message.
Be sure when you leave your message that you tell the counselor whether it's all right to leave a message when he or she calls back.
And finally, if you don't hear back--please call again. Leave your name and telephone number.
Say the number slowly and distinctly and say it twice. I can remember listening to messages as many as twelve times trying to identify
all the numbers; Counselors really try, but you've got to do your part too. Thanks.
