Jeanne Meyer, MAC, LMHC, CDP, LPC (360) 949-2524
Licensed Mental Health Counselor 8100 NE Parkway Dr., Suite #25, Vancouver, WA 98662 Niche Specialty©: Recovery Counseling. I work with people who are in recovery from addiction to substances or behavior and want to resolve the "issues" that come up whether it be past abuse or trauma, anxiety or depression, difficulty in relationships, or family problems. I help people in developing Relapse Prevention and Recovery Plans. I help people who have been called "Chronic Relapsers" or "Retreads" untangle the barriers to long term recovery. I am familiar with various recovery models, including 12 Step programs like NA, AA, Alanon, etc. Location: Near the Vancouver Mall, in the first office building to the west of the Mall. General Practice Area: I work with a wide variety of problems, including PTSD, depression and anxiety disorders, addiction, personality disorders and maintaining recovery.
I provide mental health assessments that include a diagnosis and recommendations for treatment. I use a variety of techniques to assist adults in improving their lives including individual and group counseling that addresses skill building from the Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) model. I have several techniques that I use to reduce the intensity of the impact of past trauma that include desensitizing and reprocessing material. I have completed Level II EMDR training and am working toward certification. I teach people about their disorders and what a diagnosis means. I teach stress reduction and mindfulness skills.
I believe that to be successful in therapy you must know how you would like your life to change, to set up realistic short term goals and periodically assess the progress you have made. Many times, when we are making these changes, we don't realize how much work we have actually done. Ultimately the goal is to feel better. I believe therapy is about what you want and how you see your life. I can provide you an opportunity to use my experience, information, skills and practice to reach your goal.
Shopping for a counselor is very important. I offer a 30 minute individual or phone consultation at no charge in order for us to determine if we would work well together. [ Email Jeanne Meyer ] [ Go to counselor - therapist website ]
