Working to make changes in life can be intimidating. Even the first phone call to a therapist may seem scary. My first goal, after receiving your call, is to provide you with the information you need to make an informed decision about entering therapy with me. We can talk a bit, so that you can get a feel for my style, and we can discuss whether me might work well together.
Change may be difficult and painful. I hope that I can provide you with non-judgmental support and guidance through the difficult changes you are making. I'll strive to equip you with practical tools that you can use to make daily life run more smoothly while you are tackling the deeper internal change. I will likely ask you about the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that are troubling you as a place to begin.
As a therapist my approach to therapy evolves and adapts to meet the needs of each of my clients. At the core of my approach is my belief that the key to change in therapy is creating a safe environment in which my clients can explore the issues that brought them to therapy and try out new ways of coping with them. This environment is established by building a strong and mutually trusting therapeutic relationship. I use various techniques drawn from my training and experience.

General Practice Area: For over 20 years, my passion has been working with children, teens and families in a variety of settings including residental, foster and adoptive care, in family homes and community. My overall framework for therapy is a family systems approach. I also use a cognitive behavioral approach, techniques from art therapy, and play therapy from a humanistic and strengths-oriented approach that are client-centered and tailored to the unique needs of the individual, or family.
