Whitman County is a county located in the U.S. state of Washington. As of the 2000 census, the population was 40,740, with the majority living in its largest city, Pullman, home to Washington State University, the state's land-grant university. The county seat is at Colfax.

Pullman, Washington is the largest city in Whitman County, Washington, United States. In 2008, the population was estimated at 27,150.  Originally incorporated as Three Forks, the city was later renamed after George Pullman.  Pullman is best known as the home of Washington State University.
