Location: In the Old Fuller Store across from Minglement Natural Food Store, at the intersection of Vashon Hwy. and Cemetery Rd.
General Practice Area: I work with a wide population, ranging from older adults and those in midlife to teens and very young children.
I am experienced with family therapy, working on issues and dynamics between family members in the present, and in supporting parents to be
successful when separating, divorcing and single parenting. I also know the value and importance of individual work in anxiety counseling,
depression counseling, grief counseling and counseling for trauma or life transitions. I have over 22 years of experience working in
the field of Mental Health. I have a Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Cincinnati and a Masters Degree from the
Leadership Institute of Seattle. My approach in working with clients is strength based, with an emphasis on potential and possibility,
helping client's find a vision and path for their desired change. My view is systemic in that I am interested in the relational
dynamics that impact an individual, child or family's health and functioning. I have a straightforward, pragmatic style and I
strive for an alliance built on honesty, openness, and truth. My intuitive, playful, and compassionate way of connecting puts
people at ease. My training encompasses a variety of theories of counseling including Systemic Family Therapy, Narrative Therapy,
Attachment Theory, Solution Focused Therapy, Play Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

Oh, yes--a geography note for the uninformed. Vashon is a beautiful wooded island in salt water
Puget Sound just southwest of Seattle. Vashon Island is accessible by ferry from north Tacoma or West Seattle. The
name is pronounced "Va'-shon" not "Vashion" (rhymes with fashion) as my good friend pronounces it.
At 37 square miles, Vashon-Maury Island is about 60 percent larger in area than
Manhattan Island, with about 1/150 the population. There are no bridges to connect the island with the mainland, a big factor
contributing to the island's relative isolation and rural character. An isthmus built by the US Army Corps of Engineers that
connects the Vashon Island to neighboring Maury Island. Washington State Ferries connect to Tacoma at the south end of
the island. At the north end of the island, ferries connect to Southworth (to the west) and to West Seattle (to the east).
