Sheila Hunter MA LMHC (425) 831-2000 38579 SE River Street, Suite 2A, Snoqualmie, WA 98065 Niche Specialty©: Relationship Problems. Most of us are not born knowing how to "do" relationships; we need to be taught or coached. This is what a counselor can help with. Communicating better is the #1 goal my clients want to address, but often there's more to it than learning a script that fits all occasions. Communication is more than talking. It's about relating. And if we think relationships are easy, consider what someone once said: "Marriage is easy. Staying married is the hardest think we can do." (The saying can be applied to all kinds of relationship.) Location: See website for map and picture of office building, www.sno-valleycounseling.com General Practice Area: A typical client is one who comes to counseling motivated to change and willing to do the work it takes to change old patterns of behavior - which have caused discomfort and unhappiness in the present.
Homework is assigned for the time between sessions to help a client take the insights and information gained during sessions, into the real world with which to practice.
In a week, people who come to the office are children, adolescents, couples, families, and adults. The most common 'problems' are anxiety, PTSD (combat, auto accidents, rape, and so on), panic disorder, depression, and poor communication.
The treatment modality most commonly used is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which includes Prolonged Exposure Therapy, and EMDR. These methods 'bust erroneous thinking' and help the client retrain their brains to not react the way the did when therapy was first started.
