Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker
1370 Stewart St., Ste. 102, Seattle, WA 98109
Niche Specialty©: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. In all the research in what makes therapy effective, there is one factor much more important than all the others. It is the quality of the therapuetic relationship. As long as our working alliance is strong, I then tend to utilize a number of approaches generally under the heading of CBT. My particular emphasis tends to focus on the behavioral over the cognitive. That is, working with you on how you interact with your environment as opposed to emphasising how your manage your inner dialogue. This is a very rough description which I can best clarify by talking with you on the phone.
Location: By REI next to I-5.
General Practice Area: I am a seattle therapist providing counseling and therapy for a range of concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, stress, marriage and relationship problems. I tend to utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy or CBT, family or systems therapy, supportive counseling, motivational interviewing and Therapy should help you to: -recognize and change distorted thinking. -Do more of what works and less of what doesn't. -See how your actions may be eliciting the behaviors in others you do not want. -Communicate effectively. -Stay aware of your emotions. -Experience appropriate sadness without undue depression. -Manage anxiety, phobia and panic. -Balance the need for connection and intimacy with autonomy and privacy. -Come to peaceful terms with those things you cannot change. -Decrease fruitless ruminating and turn you attention what is more meaningful. -Improve your effectiveness in solving problems. I try to ensure our alliance is always strong and that you feel fully heard and understood, on a level you may rarely experience. Therapy should feel affirming and "right". It should also be challenging, and moving you towards you goals - often out of old comfort zones and into new perspectives. My work is collaborative and practical and I draw on many approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy or CBT, family or systems therapy, supportive counseling and motivational interviewing.
