Wendy Smith MA LMHCA (206) 965-8749
Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate
18 W. Mercer St., Suite #360, Seattle, WA 98119
Niche Specialty©: Disability Counselor, Counseling. Counseling for people with new or long-term disabilities: An unaddressed need to come to terms with a disability can bring up a lot of powerful emotions, cause anxiety or depression or interpersonal problems, or lead to overwhelm or numbness. Indeed, the quest to make sense of your disability can even prompt a reevaluation of your identity, priorities, and/or the meaning of your life. Finding a counselor who understands this terrain and can travel it with you can be of enormous help. Help is also offered for dealing with societal and internalized oppression.
Location: My office is located on W. Mercer St. between Queen Anne Ave. N. and 1st Ave. W. The building says "Comcast Spotlight" on it and is fully accessible.
General Practice Area: I provide mental health counseling for adults working through anxiety, depression, trauma, loss and grief, identity issues, life transitions, and other problems. I also provide help for couples in conflict, couples seeking to address specific relationship problems, and couples wishing to enhance their relationships.
Additionally, I counsel people coming to terms with physical or sensory disabilities or chronic or terminal illnesses, and family members of people with disabilities and/or illnesses. I believe that people contain the seeds of their own authenticity and development, and it is my job to help you remove whatever is blocking your natural growth. With individuals, I use "existential" (working in the here-and-now), as well as mindfulness-based, and emotion-focused techniques. I also pay attention to your history in order to understand (along with you) how your past development and experiences might be affecting your capacity to live well in the present and imagine a future. Recently, I started using Lifespan Integration(c) therapy. With couples, I use "Emotionally Focused Therapy" to help partners deeply reconnect on the level of feelings and needs--as opposed to having that same unproductive argument over and over again. I also use very practical, research-derived techniques to help partners develop strategies for successful communication and for joint living and dreaming, while, at the same time, maintaining their identities as whole and separate human bein [ Email Wendy Smith ] [ Go to counselor - therapist website ]

Niche Specialty©: Abuse (verbal or psychological). I specialize in working with clients who have suffered from abuse of all kinds, especially in the areas of emotionally violent relationships (both current and past). We will explore some of the troubling elements of this covert-yet-powerful form of abuse and trauma.
Location: My office is in the "Space" building about a block south of Bartell's Drug Store.
General Practice Area: I work mostly with individuals and couples, early adolescence and older. I have over ten years experience therapuetically sitting with people in a variety of settings: community agencies, schools, churches, and universities. Though I have experience using multiple forms of therapy, including Psychodynamic, Object Relations Theory, Adlerian, and Cognitive Behavioral, I mostly use a relational form of therapy, geared toward helping the client become better acquainted with how relationships have formed how they function in daily life. Through experiential empathy and honesty, we explore the issues that brought a person to seek counseling, and the hope is to walk with a client as they find new ways to relate to the people in their lives, thus experiencing more freedom, peace, hope and love.
The various issues that I have worked through with clients include: abuse, anxiety, anger issues, parenting problems, sexual issues, addictions, spiritual matters, career decisions, and self-esteem problems.
I also enjoy couples' counseling as part of my practice; I seek to provide a space for couples to sort through the messy dyanmics of intimate relationships in deeply transformative ways. [ Email Brian Pendergast ] [ Go to counselor - therapist website ]

Jenn Frechette, MA, LMHCA (206) 445-2249
Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate
18 W. Mercer St, Suite #360, Seattle, WA 98119
Location: My office is conveniently located in the heart of lower Queen Anne in the Comcast Spotlight Building, which is located on the corner of Mercer Street and First Avenue West.
General Practice Area: I work with women, men, and adolescents providing individual, couple, and family therapy. I take a holistic (or whole person-centered) approach to therapy, which views the intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual, and relational components of wellness as inter-related. Medical consultation may be advised and I work in tandem with medical professionals.
One primary facet of my therapeutic approach is a relational lens. In life, relationships are a great source of joy as well as struggle. You may see this relational emphasis on two distinct levels. First, I will want to understand more about your family-of-origin and relational history. Second, we will together, take the insight and awareness gained from your past and apply it to how it impacts your current struggles in the present. In this, I hope that you will not only find possible solutions to your problem, but that you may also experience a sense of hope for the future. I will pay particular attention to building rapport, trust, and authenticity between us in the counseling office. As your therapist, I will seek to create a safe place for you to both talk about your reasons for pursuing counseling as well as possible solutions. Our ability to be open and honest with one another in a safe environment will greatly enhance the effectiveness of our work together.
Counseling is a unique opportunity to not only find relief from problems, but to restore health, wholeness, and even develop a sense of hope for the future [ Email Jenn Frechette ] [ Go to counselor - therapist website ]

Niche Specialty©: Children and Adolescents. I have worked with many different children and adolescents who come to counseling for a variety of reasons. Sometimes they are struggling with a life transition (like graduation, a new sibling, divorce, marriage, blended families), depression, anxiety, or perhaps something traumatic has occurred. Location: First West Building (lower Queen Anne - next to Buckley's)
General Practice Area: Many times it is difficult to identify what is continuing to cause problems or dissatisfaction in your life whether that be with work or in relationships (finding yourself repeating the same struggle at different times). I will work collaboratively with you to help identify those patterns in a safe environment empowering you to make changes that will enhance your relationship with self and others. We will focus on your current struggle while looking at your history to give meaning and understanding to the difficulties you are experiencing in order to make needed changes. I look forward to hearing from you and welcome questions to help you make that important decision.

Lacie Morrison, MA, LMHCA (206) 915-0790
Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate
200 1st Ave W., Suite 400, Seattle, WA 98109
Niche Specialty©: Sexual Abuse. I have chosen to focus on trauma throughout my studies and in my practice, and sexual trauma and abuse are primary areas of focus. Clients come to me for help processing grief, depression, anxiety, relational difficulties, and questions of sexuality and spirituality. I have also worked with clients suffering from PTSD and dissociative disorders.
General Practice Area: My therapeutic approach is psychodynamic and relational in nature, and is largely influenced by attachment theory and object relations theory. Essentially this means that I see relationships as central to the ways we understand ourselves and the world. Often our first caregiving relationships impact us in such a way that we experience every other relationship through the lens of how we were first loved – whether we were loved well, not at all, or somewhere in between. The therapeutic relationship offers an opportunity for us to experience something new, as we encounter each other, therapist and client healing as we learn new ways of being in the world, in relationships, and simply being with ourselves.
For me, therapy is best informed by seeing a person as a whole individual, including the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual aspects of a person. Listening together to all these aspects of your self gives us the opportunity to understand more of your struggle, and in turn begin to find ways of moving toward wholeness and healing.
I have worked as a therapist in the Philippines with women who were commercially sexually exploited and therefore seek to integrate non-Western approaches to mental health in my practice. [ Email Lacie Morrison ] [ Go to counselor - therapist website ]

I work with couples to help identify the relational patters that have contributed to this erosion without blame or judgment and then to help them find new ways of interacting to start rebuilding the healthy foundation of their relationship for a better, stronger and lasting intimate connection.
