August 1994 to May 2005 Retirement--Mental Health Counselor in Private Practice, Bellevue, Washington

Duties: Floyd provided counseling and general psychotherapy services for adults.  He used a variety of techniques--Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Reality Therapy, guided imagery--in the treatment of worry, anxiety and panic disorders, stress, anger, depression, chemical dependency recovery, grief and loss, and family of origin issues. He worked with clients on a variety of issues including personal development and skill building in career, courtship, healthy relationships and concerns about personal identity and self-confidence.  [No couples counseling.]

Duties: Provided individual and group counseling in county owned and operated inpatient and outpatient treatment programs. Worked with adults with complex problems and disabilities. Completing alcohol/drug abuse assessments. Lecturing to groups and facilitating process groups. Five years experience as a Dual-Diagnosis (MICA) Counselor working with clients who have both a major mental health diagnosis and a chemically dependency diagnosis.
