City of Ellensburg, WA: is located in the center of Washington State, an hour and a half east of
Seattle on the east side of the Cascade Mountains. Ellensburg is home to Central Washington University, one of the
top ten rodeos in the country and is proud of a vibrant downtown noted for its historical buildings.
City of Cle Elum, WA: The name, Cle Elum, means "swift water" in the language of the Kittitas
Indians, was given to a river, a town, and also a beautiful tranquil lake created by the construction of the Cle Elum
Dam. Cle Elum was officially incorporated on February 12, 1902. As of 2006, the City of Cle Elum had a total
land area of 3.22 sq mi. Cle Elum is a neighbor town to Roslyn Washington. In the 2000 census, the population of Cle
Elum consisted of 1,755 people, 792 households, and 448 families.
City of Roslyn, WA: Roslyn was founded in 1886 as a coal mining town to provide coal for the Northern
Pacific Railway as it pushed to reach Puget Sound across the Cascade Mountains. At the time of the 2000
census, there were 1,017 people, 467 households, and 249 families residing in the city. From 1990–1995, the
television series Northern Exposure was filmed in Roslyn. Many citizens of Roslyn and nearby Cle Elum appeared
as extras in the show located in the fictional town of Cicely, Alaska.
